This morning we had our embryo transfer.
We hadn’t had any updates on our darling embies since Wednesday morning which was the day after retrieval where we were told of the 18 retrieved, 14 were mature enough to be inseminated and 13 had successfully fertilized. So the embryologist came in and updated us today and the wonderful news is that ALL 13 had grown 🙂 how amazing (last IVF of the 19 eggs, only 9 fertilized and 5 grew) we were so delighted! We have 9 very good embryos which are early morulas or moralus and the other 4 and slightly behind in growth. We then had to make the big decision of how many and which ones to transfer. We decided we wanted to transfer 2 to increase our chances and we wanted to transfer 2 good embryos. The embryologist was shocked and advices against it as he said it won’t make me more pregnant and if they implant, BOTH will implant. He said I’m small and could the risk losing the pregnancy. We wanted to transfer a morula and an early morula and he flat out refused. When the doc came in he agreed its risk and asked whether we want twins. We stuck to our guns and transferred 2 early morulas. When the embryologist showed us the embryos on the screen he joked and said “there are the twins” eeeek, nervous laugh! Anyway everything went well and the doc said my lining is nice and thick again (10km run yesterday must have helped he he) and our 2 embies are safely onboard.
I lay in the ward for the mandatory 1.5hours and am now on 2 days bed rest.
I am to continue with the Gestone injections every morning and use Cyclogest pessaries at night.
Blood test on 7 May. I leave for china on 4 May so this could be very interesting finding a clinic in China where no-one spks to English!! I am also going over with a friend who will need to do my injections for me, this could be interesting.
Feeling very positive and confident that this will be 3rd time lucky.
